Last Airbender Trailer/Teaser

Have you guys seen it yet? If not go over to lastairbenderfans.com and they have it. And the official movie website is open--lastairbender.com. They have icons and wallpaper.

It's a teaser...so I'm still in doubt, but considering all things, it was pretty good. I'm not gonna lie, I'm excited. The firebenders climbing the cliff and then some of them falling was kinda funny. I have to wonder where this takes place though--the Southern Air Temple? The Northern Air Temple? Or was it merely for the teaser and this doesn't take place in the movie at all? The effects and all were pretty good--my main concern with this movie is the compressing of the plot. My friend Dirobi pointed out that it's going to be very difficult to compress season 1 into a two-hour movie--even a three hour movie would make it hard. So yeah...I mean, look at the moves, the background, and so on in the teaser---it looks promising, but the plot? I dunno.

Your thoughts? I'm eager to listen, so share! Are you in doubt? Or kinda hopeful? XD

...you saw Firebenders climbing cliffs? :O) I must not have been paying attention...

I liked it; I can't lie. I'm excited to see Airbending portrayed as something powerful; I think the live-action will give Airbending its due, more so than the series. (Blasphemy? Perhaps.)

I try not to think of the time issue. There is a lot going on... for instance, they'll probably cut out (parts of) episodes 104-106, 109-111, and 114-116, as well as parts of the other episodes, just so the major points will be taken care of.As long as the major highlights are there and it's played out well, I won't be upset.

^^; I watched it again, and apparently they're not falling--they're just climbing. Hehee. Sorry.

I know what you mean about airbending--in the cartoons it was pretty passive, but here--it'll finally show that air is just as powerful as any other element. I really liked the whole blowing the candles bit.

No I totally get that he's going to cut bits and pieces off--but Siege of the North Pole parts one and two--and the previous ep. Waterbending Master could make it's own movie--how are they gonna introduce Aang (which could also be it's own movie), explain the middle, and do the end? It's just so much. However...in a recent interview, posted on lastairbenderfans.com, he did say he's trying not to screw it up lest the fans and his daughters get him.

And yeah...season two is another thing. TT___TT I'm so afraid that characters like Toph and Azula won't be as developed as they were in the animated series.

The thought of Toph and Azula sickens me. The problem with these two characters is that it is so easily to flatten them. Azula has never been 2-D and neither is Toph. The stereotypes for both - The Maniacal Sociopath With No Heart and The Ruff N' Tuff Chickadee With Inner Beauty - that we see so often in fandom will piss me off to no end if I saw them on screen.

I think I'd walk out the theatre in a fit.

That's what I'm afraid of too--flat characters. While I don't fear too much for Toph, it's Azula I'm mostly concern about. It's so easy to see her that way--I mean ppl still argued about Azula after her "soft" side was shown--and I'm afraid she'll be portrayed as the 2D character that half the fans see her as, and not as the sympathetic villain that we all know she is.

Makes your head hurt, doesn't it? I just hope that whoever lands the part of Azula does it justice. She's easily the hardest character to pin down. I'd sign up for the part of Azula myself, but I'm nowhere near her coloring, nor do I have an acting skills worthy of the big screen.

Exactly what I was thinking! I was so worried how M. Night was going to have the storyline with Azula done--does he see as the cold and heartless wench who deserved the break down or a sympathic villain? I feel the same way with you on the actress--whoever she does she better do Azula justice--b'cuz Grey Delisle (even though we never saw her) she did so well with Azula. I mean my gosh, the talent she has is amazing.

I'd love to try out for Azula myself too, however, I don't look anything similar to Dev Patel--nor do I think I can do her justice. I love acting and all--especially playing the villain--but the crying? I can't do that. TT___TT

M. Night is claiming that the movies are going to be darker, so I'm going to hold him to that with Azula. I think I just might write him a strongly worded letter. *grins* In all seriousness, I'm frightened out of my mind for Azula. Here's to wishing and hoping.

See, I was going along with the series' coloring, not the movies'. In that case, I'm perfect for the role. All I need is some extensions! And I can cry. It just won't be pretty. D:

Yeah, when I heard that M. Night got rid of the slapstick jokes, I wondered what that could mean for Aang and Sokka's character. Aang is supposed to be lighthearted and all about joking--that's what makes him endearing and yet weird cuz this sweet boy is supposed to be the one who saves the world; part of Sokka's charm is to be funny--not just tough and serious. So yeah...I mean I understand some of the jokes--but all of it?

XD now that could be interesting--try out then! ^_^ But even if I was going for the animated coloring, I don't think my face remotely resembles her. Sure, I'm Asian--but we all don't look similar. -sighs- Whoever gets to play her better be good--and if M. Night screws up on Azula, I'll help you w/ your letter to him. ^___^

Oh and they are falling, sorta. XDDD The very top FN soldiers who are climbing the cliff stumble down a few feet after Aang does the airbending trick. I had to watch the HD to see it clearly. XDDD Sorry.

Book 2 will be significantly more diffucult, because there is something noteworthy in every single episode that, if left out, will most likely or will definitely undermine the story.
